Raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Derby is now happy to serve the community of Philadelphia and its surrounding neighborhoods!
Dr. Derby is a proud Penn State graduate where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the Eberly College of Science at University Park. After completion of her undergraduate studies, Dr. Derby remained in Pennsylvania to attend The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. There she was mentored by top clinicians and graduated Honors in Clinical Dentistry. With special interests in oral rehabilitations, esthetics, complex restorations, and wanting to better treat her patients, Dr. Derby was then accepted to an intensive three-year Advanced Prosthodontics residency program at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. A prosthodontist is a dentist additionally trained beyond dental school in treating and handling dental and facial problems that involve restoring missing tooth and jaw structures. Meaning, a prosthodontist is highly educated in cosmetics, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, and more. During her time at Harvard, Dr. Derby also studied and successfully defended her thesis in dental technology and oral biology in order to obtain a Masters in Medical Science (MMSc). Following her additional training, Dr. Derby returned to PA and remains in private practice.
Dr. Derby is proficient in dental technology and is and active member of several dental associations including the American Dental Association (ADA), Pennsylvania Dental Association (PDA), and the American College of Prosthodontists.
Dr. Derby has shared her skills by teaching and mentoring upcoming dentists at the predoctoral level at Harvard Dental Center. She comes from a family of educators and is passionate about passing along knowledge. She brings this same eagerness to educate to those she cares for in the dental office.
In her free time, Dr. Derby loves to cook, travel, practice yoga, and try new Philly restaurants!
Dr. Presser is a prosthodontist and periodontist who specializes in esthetic reconstructive dentistry, gum disease prevention and treatment, and dental implant placement and restoration. His specialties required an additional three years of training after graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
While at dental school, he received several awards, including the E. Howell Smith Award for outstanding achievement and proficiency in prosthetic dentistry, and the Henry B. Robinson Award for the highest proficiency in all phases of clinical dentistry. Dr. Presser was also granted membership in two of the most prestigious honorary dental societies: the Omicron Kappa Upsilon and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
The doctor lectures nationally and has authored several scientific papers, one of which was published in Science magazine. Dr. Presser is a member of national and international dental societies, and he serves on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania as a clinical assistant professor.
Prior to dental school, Dr. Presser studied fine arts, and he still paints and sculpts in his spare time. The doctor also enjoys cooking, baking artisan breads, reading, and listening to classical music.
